AutoPrint
Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Error Message File in AutoPrint base directory couldn't be handled”

Instead of printing any file the above shown error message appears. This happens if the print files are dropped into the AutoPrint base folder (like "C:\Files2Print") instead of a printer specific sub-folder.

Answer

After you have defined the base directory, please next choose a printer to be handled through AutoPrint (see settings pages).
This action will automatically create a printer-specific folder under "C:\Files2Print", for example "C:\Files2Print\HP2100".
And this is the folder where you drop the files into.

Q2: PDF-printouts are different from the original

Answer

If printing complex graphic PDF-files directly by AutoPrint rather than through the Adobe system, printouts may differ in some seldom cases. This is due to incompatibility issues that may come along with the continuous development of the PDF standard. We are currently checking with our PDF rendering module partner for the latest versions.

Q3: PDF-printing through Adobe Acrobat or Reader fails

Answer

When trying to print through an installed Adobe application you may get an error message "Job couldn't be passed to Adobe". This occurs due to the latest versions of Windows OS and Adobe have changed their safety policies and remote access api. If you experience this issue please update to the latest version of AutoPrint and try the direct PDF-printout way, which is default now. Please see also Q2.

Q4: Upgrade to AutoPrint Professional - Special offer for recently registered users of the standard version

AutoPrint Professional provides a completely different printing kernel, which is designed to operate as an unattended Windows32 service. This allows you to use the AutoPrint functionality also in complex server environments.
Instead of launching external applications like Adobe Acrobat the pdf-file rendering is managed by AutoPrint Professional through a dynamic linked library (dll). For the adoption of this dll additional license charges become due.
Therefore we decided to provide two separate packages AutoPrint and AntoPrint Professional.

Special offer for recently registered users

If you have bought an AutoPrint standard license within the last 6 months and you rather need AutoPrint Professional you may upgrade through the following simple procedure:

(1) Purchase another license of the standard version.
(2) Send us a short message by email. Please attach the original receipts if available.
(3) We’ll send you the registration code for the Professional version within 48 h.
